Your work is great, but isn’t it hard to keep it from becoming porn?
No, to me the difference is clear. This isn’t like catching a cold, or flying too close to the sun. Pornography is almost always devoid of artistic intent and merit, and exists only to arouse.
My intent is to celebrate, and to inspire. I often fail to achieve these lofty goals, but this doesn’t mean the image becomes porn, just a failed image.
What if some viewers are aroused by the images? Does that bother you?
No. My intent is not to arouse, but people are aroused by varying levels of nudity and sensuality, not to mention all sorts of other weird things. Life is too short to worry about what might arouse someone else.
Can I use your photos as reference for paintings or drawings?
Yes, but hand-drawn only and for non-commercial use. You may not use computer-aided tracing techniques to create photo-realistic renditions or vector graphics. You may contact me for licensing requests if you’d like to do something like this.
Can I use your photos on my website or blog?
No. Please contact me to explain the project and request permission. If the use is not commercial, and is consistent with my values, I will probably say yes. But I do require that you ask first.
Do you exchange links?
No. I’ve given this some thought and it really seems that the reciprocal linking model is dead. Social media is a more effective way to promote a website. Create great content and provide tools your visitors can use to share your content with their circle of friends.
